GEt INVOLVED
Rescue Food. Feed People. Reduce Waste.
Every day, perfectly good food ends up wasted, even as neighbors in our community face hunger and uncertainty. But together, we have the power to change that story. Whether you volunteer your time sorting rescued produce, sign your organization up as a donation partner, share surplus food, or support the mission with a monetary donation—each action moves us closer to a sustainable, hunger-free community. Get involved today in a way that's meaningful to you. Every bit counts, and every contribution matters.
FAQs
-
The FRH app makes it easy to rescue and deliver surplus food in your community. Once you sign up, you can set your availability and receive alerts when food rescues are available. Rescues typically take 45 minutes or less, and you’ll deliver food directly to a nonprofit serving those in need.
-
You can volunteer as much or as little as you like! Some people do rescues daily, while others volunteer once a month. You choose the opportunities that fit your schedule.
-
Absolutely! While food rescues require transportation, you can also volunteer in other ways, like sorting food at our rescue hubs or leading food preservation workshops.
-
We accept donations from businesses like grocery stores, restaurants, farms, caterers, stadiums, and food distributors. If you have surplus food that is safe to eat, we’ll make sure it reaches people who need it.
-
We have two donation pathways:
Prepared & Shelf-Stable Foods (like catered meals, bakery items, and packaged goods) through the FRH app.
Large Loads of Produce & Perishables (like farm surplus or mixed-quality produce) are sorted through The Food Project before distribution.
-
If you run a food pantry, shelter, or nonprofit that provides food assistance, you can apply to become a distribution partner. We’ll work with you to provide consistent, high-quality rescued food that meets your needs.
