bridging abundance and food insecurity in our communities
At The Food Project, we work to bridge the gap between abundance and need by supporting underserved communities and food deserts through innovative food rescue, hands-on education, and sustainable practices.
We aim to reduce food waste, improve access to nutritious food, and empower individuals with the tools and knowledge to create lasting environmental and social impact.
TRANSFORMING FOOD WASTE SINCE 2019
What began as a simple effort to reduce food waste in 2019 has grown into a movement for sustainability and community empowerment. Compost Carpool started as a service to collect food scraps and turn them into compost, helping individuals and businesses reduce their carbon footprint. In 2021, we took a bold step forward by partnering with Texas Health Community Hope to redirect edible food to those in need, and by 2023, our food rescue efforts had grown exponentially saving tens of thousands of pounds of food annually.
The launch of our nonprofit, The Food Project, marked a new chapter in 2024, allowing us to expand our mission. With our 501(c)(3) status, we’re now able to rescue more food, offer educational programs, and strengthen partnerships across Dallas-Fort Worth, creating a lasting impact on the environment and underserved communities.
